Getting Your Executive Presence Vibe Right

May 27, 2025
Connect

I care deeply about individuals connecting on a personal level to their work and what they are trying to do. I grew up hearing that work is just one of those things that everyone has to suffer through - that everyone hates their job. That was just life.

I kept thinking about how much time I saw those same people spend of their lives on the job. I refused to let that be my life experience. And believe me, I’ve done jobs and work that weren’t exactly easy or glamorous or naturally fun.

Later, I realized it wasn’t the job or the type of work I did that made the time worthwhile. Doing an activity I loved was helpful, but it was when I worked with people that I really trusted and learned from, when I was helping others in some way, big or small, and when I could affect change to make things better, big or small, that I got the most out of my work.

Thus, the reason helping others develop their executive presence and ability to connect with and influence others on the job for the better matters so much to me. I believe that everyone has value that they bring to the job and the ability to present that value is the bridge between potential impact and actual impact.

That's the basis of why and how I designed our Executive Presence on Purpose Program. Each module is designed to help you identify and deliver your unique style of leadership and influence. This isn't about pretending to be something you're not. This is about influencing decisions and change through your authentic and powerful voice in a way others can connect with.

Additional resources I recommend you check out to help you develop your unique version of executive presence includes:

RECOMMENDED READING:

  • "Strength-Based Leadership" - awesome book that breaks down the four areas that contribute to your leadership capabilities. It includes a link to an assessment to see where your leadership strengths show up the most.
  • "Communicating with Style" - phenomenal read on how to leverage the four communication styles based on the DISC model. This is a book that applies to every situation you can imagine in the workplace, and even touches our personal lives. Get it. Read it. Use it. :-)

RECOMMENDED VIEWING:

  • “Your Body Language May Shape Who You Are” – 20 minutes - an informative video that aligns with our philosophy of building your presence to bring out more of who you are vs. less.
  • “Using Visual Metaphors in Presentations to Engage Collaboration” – 11 min - excellent breakdown of how to use images to engage others to collaborate on your ideas with you.
  • “How Leaders Tell Stories” – 10 min - engaging talk on how and why leaders should use stories to connect and influence others.

Wired for Genius: The Most Powerful Career Tool You Already Have
What do people come to you for that they don't go to anyone else for? Sit with that for a moment. Because most people I ask this question don't have an answer they can easily access. The things that come most naturally to us are often the last things we recognize as anything special. We discount what feels easy. We assume that if something flows without effort, it must not be worth much. It ...

April 2025  |  Issue No. 12   A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER I love April. I realize that's a very specific thing to say about a month, but stay with me. There's something about the shift that happens this time of year, longer days, more light and the world visibly coming back to life. That makes it almost impossible not to feel some version of what if this could be different? For your career. For yo...
Welcome to 2026 - Let's Get Anchored!
I love the New Year. Plain and simple, I love the feeling of fresh starts. I clean out closets, make plans and do all the things most people joke about what's wrong with the New Year. But I get a lot of joy and energy from having a stop and start point. That doesn't mean I follow through on every resolution or that I am a beacon of organization. Rather, it helps me stay focused and anchored....
